June 2010 update

June 9, 2010

Another busy summer season has arrived and the Capitol Crew has been busy attending the first rounds of the Manitoba Motocross Association Spring Series – which is off to a high flying start.

Congrats to Tim Lavoie and Justyn McCabe who are at the top of the Pro MX1 class after round 4. Tim had a great first place finish in Brandon in the pouring rain. Greg Hickman also made a notable podium finish in round 4.

There are Capitol riders to cheer for in most classes giving us lots to be proud about. A little adverse weather hasn’t dampened the drive of these dedicated racers, enjoying podium finishes regardless of rain, snow, mud, and dust.

Here is a little collection of photos of what mother nature has had to offer the 2010 MMA season. The MMA staff & volunteers, track owners, and riders put on amazing events despite less-than-favorable weather. Never let a weather forecast keep you from attending one of these races, it makes for an even more entertaining race day!

Check out the schedule at here and come on out.

another race season has come to an end!

September 24, 2009

The MRA hosted Round 5 on Sept 12 & 13th. The last round of a year marked with nasty weather was blessed with hot sunshine and dry pavement. It’s great seeing the names of a lot of new riders on the rosters, alongside the longtime dedicated club members. Big congrats to all the new no. 1’s, you know who you are! Hope to see all the injured bikes and riders back next year! GO TPL!!!

Fall 2009 news!

September 24, 2009

We have been busy following the motocross circuit all over Manitoba since May, doing trackside sales & service. Dave got many a rider going again this year, lots with only seconds to spare. Making a kid’s day by getting him/her back on track for Moto 2 when the odds are against it really makes all the effort worthwhile for us. Best luck to all the injured riders to heal up over the winter, see you in the spring! Congratulations to all the racers who completed a full season, you are a dedicated group of riders, this is not easy! Manitoba is lucky to have your talent.

The 2009 season provided a lot of good times for the Capitol crew; the Small Bikes Big Hearts relay, Red Bull X-Fighters trip, the last Grunthal race, breaking ground for our new Service shop, the Goon Race at the Prairie Hill track in Pilot Mound (stellar), the Pirate Party, the Feast & Cornhole tournament at the MRA Round 5, and tons more. Thanks to all the riders who are supporting Manitoba’s tracks, race circuits, and businesses.

Banquet/socials for both the MMA and the MRA are on October 24 and if you’re brave like the Captiol Crew, you can make both! Tickets for both are available at the shop. See you there.

The Small Bikes Big Hearts mini-motard relay for cancer research on April 5, 2009 was a huge success. The relay itself was a blast, with 57 riders making up 19 teams. The riders ranging in ages from 13-50+; from all backgrounds of motocross, roadracing, pitbike racing, pocketbike racing made for one of the most diverse groups we've seen on a track at one time.

In the planning stages of this event, we decided to try and raise $5,000. With the high number of riders coming forth wanting to participate, we quickly upped our goal to an ambitious $10,000. Riders worked very hard pledge driving for weeks preceeding the relay. Their pledge driving efforts and their generous family & friends brought us way above and beyond our goal
to a final tally of :

** $18,125.70 **

1st Place: "Team Honda" - Gil Johnson, Mitch Fresnoza, Ryan Hykaway

2nd Place: "KCJ" - Sean Harik, Jay Morin, James Smith

3rd Place: "Thrash Hard" - Gilles Corbeil, Travis Ferguson, Ben Wirth

4th Place: "Boys 2 Men" - Dave Rand, Kim Houde, Devon Ward

1st Place 50: "Team Honda" - Gil Johnson, Mitch Fresnoza, Ryan Hykaway

Thanks to all the volunteers, organizers, and companies that helped out with this event. Great job everyone!

News from Capitol

JULY 23, 2008

The Altona MMA Race should be great, however the pitbike races on Saturday have been relocated.  There is a fundraiser party for some friends that are going through a difficult time and we encourage everyone to get out there and have a blast for a good cause.  As far as I can see the pitbike races begin around 2pm – and there is tons of other great stuff planned.  See this post for details.

There is a Ducati Show and Shine this Thursday, July 24th on Corydon!!  See this post for details .

The 3rd Annual Capitol Bike trip is fast approaching.  Feel free to email  if you need any details about what to bring, etc. Can’t wait to hit the road, look out Ontario!!

The Canadian Chaos show went really well with a massive turnout and amazing stunting by Sean, Terry, Carina and local Lee Stuart. Can’t wait to do it again.

Capitol was honored to be the sponsor of the MRA Round 3.  We hosted some Olympics which consisted of trivia and a glow stick pit bike race.  Will post some pics soon.  Congratulations to Capitol Olympics Champ Jeff LaPreashuk!!   Some MRA racing highlights were a 3rd place win in the Sportsmen race by Dave Rand (not bad for his first actual sportbike race!) and Myron Groening giving us a new definition of the word Champion.  It was a great weekend, great people, great racing.  If any of you out there have yet to experience a Track Day, you gotta!

Yes, the rumors are true! Capitol will be moving to 157 St. Anne’s Road (just a few blocks south from our current store). We do not have a move-in date yet but we will most certainly keep everyone posted. Surely it won’t be until the end of the season.
